Being a foreign language learner myself, I can personally relate to my students and understand the importance of creating lessons that are engaging and effective. Becoming fluent in Spanish as an adult has shown me what works and what doesn’t, and this has helped me create what I like to call “a toolbox of tricks”. I am a living example that it truly is possible to learn a foreign language as an adult. I am passionate about teaching language as I sincerely feel that it opens doors and makes the world a smaller place for us all. Language is the key to success in the world in which we live today, and should be viewed as an interactive tool and resource. I value diversity and the importance of being multi-lingual, and provide the opportunity for students to connect with language through culture, as this makes their learning experience more hands-on and meaningful. Being linguistically and culturally educated gives students the opportunity to grow both personally and as global citizens, engaging in the world in a unique way. I instill the desire in my students to travel and explore our amazing planet. Learning another language gives students access to realize their full potential and be successful in the global community. Being multi-lingual is not just an essential and valuable skill in terms of being marketable and increasing earning potential, but also in terms of having a skill set that allows individuals to be socially integrated and prevents them from being marginalized.

I have 20 years of teaching experience so I know how to incorporate authentic materials and provide multiple entry points for the variety of learners that I might have in my classroom, as well as their multiple intelligences and learning styles. I am flexible, energetic and bring a level of excitement to the classroom so that learning is more than just words on paper. I am a natural leader and a self-starter, but also a team player. I understand the importance of planning and connect the material with the desired outcome. I am dedicated to helping students of all ages realize their potential for becoming proficient in multiple languages, which will open up different opportunities for them in all areas of life.
